How to Participate

Professional Division - $100 Entry Fee

For professional bakers, cake artists, bakery owners, and experienced decorators.

Amateur Division - $50 Entry Fee

For hobby bakers, home bakers, and creative decorators.

Contest Overview:

  • The competition is limited to 10 contestants, consisting of a mix of professional and amateur bakers.

  • Each contestant will provide:

    • One decorated competition cake - Displayed, judged, and auctioned to the highest bidder

    • One tasting cake - Same flavor as the competition cake, with at least 60 tasting portions for judging and attendee sampling

  • Contestants will compete for awards and prizes, and auction proceeds will benefit ECCAC

Decorated cakes will be auctioned following judging.

Minimum Starting Bid: $100

Winning bidders must complete payment before receiving their cake. All proceeds benefit the ECCAC.

  • Open to amateur and professional bakers aged 18 and older. Participation is limited to the first 10 registered contestants. The registration deadline is September 10, 2026.

  • Each contestant must provide one decorated competition cake for the auction and one tasting cake for judging and attendee sampling.

  • Each contestant will have ½ of a 6 ft table (3ft space). Cake stands, decorative display items, and flavor signage are welcome. Electricity will not be provided.

  • Contestants must provide a complete ingredient list and disclose common allergens. Cakes requiring refrigeration should be avoided whenever possible.

  • Cakes will be judged on theme interpretation, design and decoration, flavor, texture and execution, and wow factor.

The Great Cake Showdown is a brand-new cake decorating competition where amateur and professional bakers create show-stopping cakes inspired by this year’s Sporting Clay Classic theme, Take Your Best Shot!

Guests will have the opportunity to sample cakes, vote for People’s Choice, and bid on one-of-a-kind decorated cakes in the live auction. All proceeds benefit the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center.
